Medina is the county seat of Medina County, home to about 25,700 residents. The historic town square is the heart of the city, offering unique shops, restaurants, and year-round community events. Medina City Schools are among the best in the state. The median household income is around $76,099, and typical home values are around $231,700, making Medina an accessible market with strong value. Whether you're looking for an established colonial near downtown or a newer home in one of the planned communities, Medina offers excellent options.
Medina is also wonderfully positioned for commuters: about 30 minutes from downtown Cleveland and 25 from Akron, with easy I-71 access. You get the space, the schools, and the slower pace of life without a painful daily drive. And the square keeps the calendar full, from summer concerts at the gazebo and art walks to the Medina County Fair, so there is always a reason to gather.
If I am being honest, Medina is one of those communities where I never mind showing homes. The square, the neighborhoods with their mature trees, the way the light hits the gazebo in the evening. I have watched households put down roots here, raise their kids, and then help those same kids buy their first homes in Medina when they were ready. There is a continuity to life here that not every suburb offers, and I treasure being part of it.

The best of Medina
There is a reason Medina keeps showing up on "best places to live" lists. It is not just the historic square or the excellent schools. It is the way this community shows up for each other, the local businesses that pour their hearts into what they do, and the traditions that make this place feel like home from the moment you arrive. These are some of my favorite spots and events in Medina.
Historic Medina Square
The heart and soul of Medina. The beautiful gazebo, unique local shops, excellent restaurants, and a calendar full of events from summer concert series and art walks to the Farmers Market, the Medina County Fair, and the Candlelight Walk. There is always something happening on the square, and it is the perfect place to spend a Saturday afternoon.
The Honey Bee Bakery
Right on Public Square at 23 Public Square, Suite 1. Everything is made from scratch, and you can taste the care in every bite. Their macarons are stunning, but go for a slice of their seasonal fruit pie or one of their signature cookies. They also do incredible custom cakes for special occasions. Open Thursdays and Saturdays until 4:00 PM.
Medina County Parks
The Medina County Park District manages miles of beautiful trails and preserves. Buckeye Woods Park, the Lester Rail Trail, and many more offer hiking, biking, and a chance to connect with the natural beauty of the area. Reagan Park and Fred Greenwood Park in the city itself are also wonderful for a quick walk or family outing.
Candlelight Walk
Medina's annual holiday tradition is magical. The square lights up, carolers fill the air, and the whole community gathers to kick off the season together. It draws visitors from all over Northeast Ohio, and it is one of those events that makes you fall in love with this town every single year.
Medina Farmers Market
70-plus vendors on Public Square every Saturday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, offering fresh produce, baked goods, flowers, and artisan crafts. It is one of my favorite ways to spend a Saturday morning, and the energy on the square during market season is absolutely infectious.
Buckeye Woods Park
One of the largest parks in the Medina County system with trails, open space, and a beautiful natural setting. It is the perfect place for a family hike, a peaceful solo walk, or just a quiet moment in nature. Located just outside the city, it is close enough for a quick visit but feels like a world away.

As of late summer 2026, the Medina housing market remains highly competitive. The median sale price is around $311,000, up about 4% from last year, while Medina County overall saw a median of about $330,000 in spring 2026. Inventory is still limited, which keeps demand strong. Homes are selling quickly, often going under contract in 11 to 33 days depending on the price range and location.
Homes near the historic square and in top school feeder patterns are especially sought after. That means the market rewards decisive buyers and well-priced sellers. The county-wide average shows homes moving in about 22 days, underscoring just how active this community is right now. From starter homes and condos near the square to executive properties in newer developments, there is still a wide range of options for every budget and lifestyle. This Week in Medina
Summer is winding down in Medina, but there is still plenty to enjoy around the square this week. The Medina Square Farmers Market is on Saturday, August 29, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Public Square with 70-plus vendors offering fresh produce, baked goods, flowers, and artisan crafts. It is one of my favorite ways to spend a Saturday morning. And on Sunday, August 30, the Mill Street August Makers' Market is back from noon to 4:00 PM, featuring local artisans, handmade goods, and live music. If you have not strolled Mill Street on a market day, it is a great way to support local makers and feel the heart of this community.

If you follow me on social media, you know I have a sweet spot (pun intended) for The Honey Bee Bakery right on Public Square at 23 Public Square, Suite 1. This little gem has been serving up some of the best baked goods in Medina since 2015, and they are the real deal. Everything is made from scratch, and you can taste the care in every bite. Their macarons are absolutely beautiful and melt in your mouth. But if you ask me what to try first, I will always say go for a slice of their seasonal fruit pie or one of their signature cookies. They also do incredible custom cakes if you have a celebration coming up. Pop in on a Thursday or Saturday when they are open until 4:00 PM. Trust me, you will leave happy.

This Week in Medina
This is shaping up to be one of those lovely September weeks on the square. This Saturday, September 5, the Medina Square Farmers Market returns to Public Square from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM with more than 70 vendors, and over at the Oenslager Nature Center the Medina County Park District hosts its 4th annual Native Plant Festival and Sale from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, complete with monarch tagging and nature crafts the kids will love. The Medina Sports History exhibit also opens this week at the Recreation Center. Best of all, with the long Labor Day weekend right around the corner, you have a perfect, unhurried stretch to get outside, support local makers, and enjoy the town we are all so proud to call home.
The Grind Coffee Bar
One spot I keep sending people to lately is The Grind Coffee Bar, tucked right behind the fountain on the square at 124 N Court Street. It genuinely lives up to its tagline, "a space for community and coffee." The room is warm and welcoming, the drinks are built on house-made syrups and seasonal specials, and the folks behind the counter treat you like a neighbor, because you probably are one. For what to try first, I will point you to their crepes. The strawberry and Nutella is a crowd favorite, and it pairs beautifully with one of their iced lattes or a seasonal specialty drink. It is a wonderful little stop after a morning at the farmers market, or honestly any morning at all. Do yourself a favor and wander over. Grab a seat by the window, watch the square wake up, and enjoy the kind of slow, friendly start to the day that just feels like Medina.
