Medina City Schools are among the best in the state. The median household income is around $76,099, and typical home values are around $231,700, making Medina an accessible market with strong value. Whether you're looking for an established colonial near downtown or a newer home in one of the planned communities, Medina offers excellent options.
Medina is also wonderfully positioned for commuters: about 30 minutes from downtown Cleveland and 25 from Akron, with easy I-71 access. If I am being honest, Medina is one of those communities where I never mind showing homes. The square, the neighborhoods with their mature trees, the way the light hits the gazebo in the evening. There is a reason Medina keeps showing up on "best places to live" lists. It is not just the historic square or the excellent schools. It is the way this community shows up for each other, the local businesses that pour their hearts into what they do, and the traditions that make this place feel like home from the moment you arrive. These are some of my favorite spots and events in Medina.
Historic Medina Square
The heart and soul of Medina. The beautiful gazebo, unique local shops, excellent restaurants, and a calendar full of events from summer concert series and art walks to the Farmers Market, the Medina County Fair, and the Candlelight Walk. There is always something happening on the square, and it is the perfect place to spend a Saturday afternoon.
The Honey Bee Bakery
Right on Public Square at 23 Public Square, Suite 1. Everything is made from scratch, and you can taste the care in every bite. Their macarons are stunning, but go for a slice of their seasonal fruit pie or one of their signature cookies. They also do incredible custom cakes for special occasions. Open Thursdays and Saturdays until 4:00 PM.
Medina County Parks
The Medina County Park District manages miles of beautiful trails and preserves. Buckeye Woods Park, the Lester Rail Trail, and many more offer hiking, biking, and a chance to connect with the natural beauty of the area. Reagan Park and Fred Greenwood Park in the city itself are also wonderful for a quick walk or family outing.
Candlelight Walk
Medina's annual holiday tradition is magical. The square lights up, carolers fill the air, and the whole community gathers to kick off the season together. It draws visitors from all over Northeast Ohio, and it is one of those events that makes you fall in love with this town every single year.
Medina Farmers Market
70-plus vendors on Public Square every Saturday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, offering fresh produce, baked goods, flowers, and artisan crafts. It is one of my favorite ways to spend a Saturday morning, and the energy on the square during market season is absolutely infectious.
Buckeye Woods Park
One of the largest parks in the Medina County system with trails, open space, and a beautiful natural setting. It is the perfect place for a family hike, a peaceful solo walk, or just a quiet moment in nature. Located just outside the city, it is close enough for a quick visit but feels like a world away.

As of Redfin's most recent city-level reading for Medina, its August 2026 data point, the housing market remains highly competitive. The median sale price in the city is around $315,000, up about 5% from a year earlier, while inventory is still limited, which keeps demand strong. Across the broader 44256 area, Redfin's latest published window shows a median around $375,000 with homes spending a median of about 23 days on the market, down from 36 a year earlier, and 155 homes sold in its most recent reported month.
Homes near the historic square and in top school feeder patterns are especially sought after. That means the market rewards decisive buyers and well-priced sellers. The county-wide average shows homes moving in about 22 days, underscoring just how active this community is right now. From starter homes and condos near the square to executive properties in newer developments, there is still a wide range of options for every budget and lifestyle. This Week in Medina
Summer is winding down in Medina, but there is still plenty to enjoy around the square this week. The Medina Square Farmers Market is on Saturday, August 29, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Public Square with 70-plus vendors offering fresh produce, baked goods, flowers, and artisan crafts. It is one of my favorite ways to spend a Saturday morning. And on Sunday, August 30, the Mill Street August Makers' Market is back from noon to 4:00 PM, featuring local artisans, handmade goods, and live music. If you have not strolled Mill Street on a market day, it is a great way to support local makers and feel the heart of this community.
The Honey Bee Bakery
If you follow me on social media, you know I have a sweet spot (pun intended) for The Honey Bee Bakery right on Public Square at 23 Public Square, Suite 1. This little gem has been serving up some of the best baked goods in Medina since 2015, and they are the real deal. Everything is made from scratch, and you can taste the care in every bite. Their macarons are absolutely beautiful and melt in your mouth. But if you ask me what to try first, I will always say go for a slice of their seasonal fruit pie or one of their signature cookies. They also do incredible custom cakes if you have a celebration coming up. Pop in on a Thursday or Saturday when they are open until 4:00 PM. Trust me, you will leave happy.
This Week in Medina
This is shaping up to be one of those lovely September weeks on the square. This Saturday, September 5, the Medina Square Farmers Market returns to Public Square from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM with more than 70 vendors, and over at the Oenslager Nature Center the Medina County Park District hosts its 4th annual Native Plant Festival and Sale from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, complete with monarch tagging and nature crafts the kids will love. The Medina Sports History exhibit also opens this week at the Recreation Center. Best of all, with the long Labor Day weekend right around the corner, you have a perfect, unhurried stretch to get outside, support local makers, and enjoy the town we are all so proud to call home.
The Grind Coffee Bar
One spot I keep sending people to lately is The Grind Coffee Bar, tucked right behind the fountain on the square at 124 N Court Street. It genuinely lives up to its tagline, "a space for community and coffee." The room is warm and welcoming, the drinks are built on house-made syrups and seasonal specials, and the folks behind the counter treat you like a neighbor, because you probably are one. For what to try first, I will point you to their crepes. The strawberry and Nutella is a crowd favorite, and it pairs beautifully with one of their iced lattes or a seasonal specialty drink. It is a wonderful little stop after a morning at the farmers market, or honestly any morning at all. Do yourself a favor and wander over. Grab a seat by the window, watch the square wake up, and enjoy the kind of slow, friendly start to the day that just feels like Medina.

September has settled into Medina beautifully, and the square is full of reasons to get out this week. On Friday, September 11, the Medina Sunrise Rotary hosts the 25th Anniversary 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at the 9/11 Memorial Park beside Fire Station 1 on West Reagan Parkway from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. It is a quiet, meaningful way to come together and honor the day with neighbors and veterans. Then on Saturday, September 12, the Medina Square Farmers Market is back on Public Square from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM with more than 70 vendors, and the season runs through mid-October, so there is still plenty of time to fill your Saturday mornings with fresh finds.
A Cupcake a Day
There is a sweet little shop tucked just off the square that I keep sending people to: A Cupcake a Day at 115 W. Liberty Street. It calls itself a cupcake boutique, and that is exactly what it is: a warm, cozy shop that has worked its way through more than 300 flavors over the years, with 25-plus made fresh every single day. They also take custom orders for cakes, weddings, and celebrations, and they offer vegan options too, so there is genuinely something sweet for everyone. What I love most is the feel of the place, like a neighbor's home kitchen that decided to share its recipes with the whole town.
For what to try, here is what I always tell my clients: let them pick for you. The folks behind the counter bake in small batches and love walking you through what is special that day, so if you cannot choose, that is the right move. My own rule is one seasonal special, one classic like a good chocolate cupcake, and a few extra for the kids, because nobody ever leaves with just one box. Stop in after the farmers market on Saturday, grab a box (or two) for the week, and support a genuinely lovely, family-owned local business that makes this town taste a little sweeter.

Fall is officially settling into Medina, and there is no better place to welcome it than the square. This Saturday, September 19, the Medina Square Farmers Market runs from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Public Square with a special "Celebrate the First Day of Fall" market featuring JZ Flowers, and it keeps going through mid-October. If you love a good show, the Veterans Car Show and Crusin' for Conservation both roll through town Saturday morning too, and the big Medina Fall Festival on the square is just around the corner on the 26th.
P.J. Marley's Restaurant & Pub
There is one spot on the square I send just about everyone to for a proper meal: P.J. Marley's Restaurant & Pub at 119 Public Square. It is a lively, old-timey tavern tucked inside what used to be the town bank, and they kept the original vault, which honestly gives the whole place this one-of-a-kind character you will not find anywhere else. They are famous for their gourmet burgers made from locally sourced beef, with signature creations like The Safe Cracker and the Ron Swanson Pyramid of Greatness, and their house-made milkshakes have topped the charts around Medina County. It is the kind of neighborhood institution where you walk in and immediately feel at home.
If you are heading to the farmers market this Saturday, I would make a plan to stop in for a burger and one of those shakes afterward. It is a wonderful way to spend a crisp fall afternoon on the square, and a great reminder of why Medina is such a special place to call home.

Fall is in full swing in Medina, and this Saturday, September 26, downtown is hosting one of my favorite days of the whole season: the Medina Fall Festival on Public Square from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. There is a hay maze, pumpkin painting, a petting zoo, horse rides, live music, and a chili cook-off, and the Medina Square Farmers Market runs right alongside it from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, so you get two wonderful reasons to spend the morning on the square. The market keeps going through mid-October, which means there are still a few more Saturdays of fresh finds and good company left this season.
Circles on the Square
Since we are talking about crisp fall mornings, let me point you to my favorite way to start festival day: a donut run to Circles on the Square at 28 Public Square. They make gourmet cake donuts from scratch in small batches, and you can watch them rolling and frying right behind the counter. The display case looks like a work of art, with classic flavors and rotating seasonal specials, and they have the awards to prove it: Circles won the Cleveland Donut Fest twice, in 2018 and 2020, with their raspberry cookie donut. What I love most is that it feels like a true neighborhood institution, friendly faces, a line out the door on festival mornings, and that small-town charm you just do not find everywhere.
I know these are hard choices, so here is what I always tell my clients: start with the raspberry cookie donut, the one that won the whole thing, and grab a Buckeye while you are at it, chocolate glaze, peanut butter chips, and a drizzle of peanut butter that tastes like a candy bar in donut form. The Monster Cookie Dough, a vanilla donut with chocolate icing, M&Ms, and cookie dough baked right in, is the one the younger crowd always goes for. Stop in Saturday morning before the Fall Festival, grab a box, and bring enough to share, because the people you meet at the pumpkin painting are going to want one.

Then on Saturday, October 3, the Medina Square Farmers Market returns to Public Square from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM with more than 70 vendors, so you can shop local in the morning and eat local all weekend long.
Cool Beans Café
I want to send you to one of my favorite spots just off the square this week: Cool Beans Café at 103 West Liberty Street. It is one of those wonderfully eclectic, cozy places where the menu runs from sandwiches and paninis to wraps, soups, and breakfast burritos, and the coffee bar keeps 40 rotating syrup flavors on hand, so there is always something new to try. The folks behind the counter are the real charm. They are friendly, unhurried, and happy to talk you through what is good that day, whether that is a house blend like Chocolate Cherry or a seasonal soup flight. Cool Beans has joined in on Restaurant Week in past years, so keep an eye out for them on this year's dining passport as you make your rounds. For what to try, here is what I tell my clients: start with the cranberry chicken salad, the sandwich that made this place a local favorite, and pair it with one of their seasonal soups. It is a special "Salute to Farming" edition with more than 70 vendors, plus a petting zoo, beekeeping and cooking demonstrations, and antique farm equipment on display. If you have been meaning to make it to the market all summer, this is your last chance to enjoy it this season. And Main Street Medina's Restaurant Week is still running through Sunday, October 11, so there is no better week to eat local.
The Farmer's Table
Since we are celebrating farming this week, let me send you to one of my favorite farm-to-table spots in town: The Farmer's Table at 320 S Court Street, just a short walk from the square. Tucked inside the historic Farmer's Exchange Building, it is a rustic, welcoming restaurant and provisions shop built around locally sourced ingredients, from Ohio City Pasta and McConnell Meats to Pierogies of Cleveland and Ohio-made spirits. The whole place feels like a love letter to the farms and food producers all around us, which is exactly the spirit of this week's market.
For what to try, I always point my clients to their bacon cheeseburger, the one that has become a local legend, but do not skip the spit-smoked deviled eggs or the smoked brisket while you are there. If you are in the mood for something cozier, the Farmhouse Pot Pie and the Polish Supper, local kielbasa with potato-cheddar pierogies and kraut, are both wonderful. And before you leave, peek at the provisions shop for take-home items, a great way to bring a little of the farm-to-table magic into your own kitchen.
After you spend Saturday morning at the final farmers market, wander over to The Farmer's Table for lunch. It is the perfect way to close out market season and celebrate the growers who make this community so special.

October has settled into Medina, and the square is shifting into its spooky-season stride. The farmers market wrapped up for the year last Saturday and Restaurant Week just closed out, so this week belongs to fall color, crisp evenings, and Halloween fun. On Thursday, October 15, Main Street Medina's Ghost & Gobblin' Walk returns for its second year, a guided tour through the historic district with five immersive stops, small plates at five local eateries, glowing jack-o'-lanterns, and ghost stories about Medina's haunted past, all wrapping up with a Phantom Pop-Up Fair. Tickets sold out fast, so if you missed it, there is still plenty of Halloween fun ahead in Medina, and Saturday, October 17 brings Pumpkins & Purpose at the Salvation Army and the Sanderson Sisters Soirée at Castle Noel for the Hocus Pocus fans among us.
Courthouse Pizzeria
Since we are talking about the square, let me send you to one of my favorite spots for a casual meal this week: Courthouse Pizzeria at 2 Public Square, tucked right into the historic courthouse building, built in 1821, which makes it one of the most beautiful backdrops for a pizza in all of Medina. The Miller family founded it in 2015 and turned that old space into a true gathering spot for neighbors, and their logo, three figures holding hands, spells out their whole mission: unity. It is the kind of place where you walk in and feel like you belong.
The pizza is New York-style, with dough and sauce made fresh every day, no conveyor belts or pre-made ingredients. For what to try, I always tell my clients to start with the classic NY pie, or the White pie if you want something a little different, and do not leave without a cannoli, it is the most-liked item on their menu for a reason. Grab a slice after a stroll around the square on a crisp October evening, and you will understand why this place has become such a favorite.

Halloween is officially taking over Medina this week, and the headline act is the Great America 250 Pumpkin Salute on Public Square this Saturday, October 24, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. Carved pumpkins registered ahead of time compete for funniest, scariest, most patriotic, and best group display while the whole square lights up with jack-o'-lanterns, a costume contest, games, music, and food trucks, all as the city chases the Ohio record for most lit pumpkins in one spot. Then on Sunday, October 25, the October Mill Street Makers Market returns at 10:00 AM, a lovely last chance this season to shop local artisans and handmade goods.
Miss Molly's Tea Room & Gift Shop
While you are out on the square, let me send you to one of my favorite little escapes: Miss Molly's Tea Room & Gift Shop at 140 W Washington Street, just a short walk from the courthouse. It is a lavishly decorated Victorian tearoom that doubles as a gift shop, all vintage charm and warm hospitality, and it has been a beloved Medina institution for years. They serve proper tiered tea service, finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and jam, homemade soups made daily, and quiches, and the room fills with the kind of laughter you only hear at baby showers, birthday parties, and ladies who lunch. It is the perfect antidote to a busy Halloween week, a place to slow down, sit a while, and remember why small-town charm is so worth protecting.
For what to try, I always tell my clients to order the chicken salad, it is their most famous, award-winning dish and one bite explains why. Pair it with whichever homemade soup is on that day, the broccoli cheddar is a longtime favorite, and save room to browse the gift shop for fine china, jewelry, and greeting cards before you go. Whether you are celebrating something special or just treating yourself, a late-October afternoon at Miss Molly's feels like a warm hug, and that is exactly the energy this town is all about.
