Hey friends! Fall is officially in full swing, and this weekend is a big one across our core communities. I looked at what is happening Friday through Sunday in Brunswick, Valley City, Medina, and Hinckley so you can plan a great few days. Here is your weekend roundup.
Brunswick & Brunswick Hills
Pumpkin Village at Mapleside Farms is the fall headliner, open all weekend on Pearl Road in Brunswick. Friday through Sunday is Hometown Heroes Weekend, honoring police officers, firefighters, paramedics, military members, veterans, doctors, nurses, and teachers. Pumpkin picking, hayrides, the corn maze, and more than 20 attractions including Valley of the Dinosaurs are all in full swing.
Horse Drawn Hayride and Bonfire is Saturday, September 26, from 2 to 10 PM at 360 Pearl Road in Brunswick. A horse-drawn hayride through the woods with a campfire to finish the night, and tickets are $18. A cozy way to ease into fall.
Healthy Kids Running Series is Sunday, September 27, at 3 PM at Heritage Farm on Laurel Road in Brunswick. It is week three of the five-week fall series, with kids from pre-K through 8th grade running age-appropriate distances. A fun way to get the family outside before the week starts.
Medina
Medina Fall Festival takes over Public Square on Saturday, September 26, from 9 AM to 2 PM, right alongside the Medina Square Farmers Market. Expect a hay maze, pumpkin painting, a petting zoo, horse rides, line dancing, a chili cook-off, apple cider pressing, face painting, and a balloon artist. Admission is free, and it is the biggest family outing of the weekend.
Medina Square Farmers Market runs the same morning, Saturday, September 26, from 9 AM to 1 PM at Public Square. More than 70 vendors bring peak-season produce, artisan cheeses, flowers, and baked goods every Saturday through October 10. Shop early, then stay for the festival.
Cleveland Keys Dueling Pianos performs Saturday, September 26, at 6 PM at Williams on the Lake on Lafayette Road in Medina. Two pianos, crowd requests, and plenty of sing-alongs make for a fun evening right after the festival. Tickets run around $29.
Blue Heron Brewing hosts its patio concert Friday, September 25, at 7 PM on Blue Heron Trace in Medina. A relaxed evening of live music with the cool fall air on your side.
Valley City
Liverpool Depot Museum Open House is Sunday, September 27, from 1 to 4 PM at 6615 Center Road in Valley City. The Valley City Community Group opens the historic 1895 train depot for the afternoon, complete with a Porter Dinky steam locomotive and a 1926 caboose plus local history displays.
Saturday is quiet in Valley City itself, and that is part of its charm. Mill Stream Park on the Rocky River is a beautiful spot for a walk any day of the weekend.
Hinckley
Hinckley's own calendar is light this weekend, but Conversations with the Other Side brings gallery readings with psychic mediums to Valleaire Golf Club on Sunday, September 27, at 7 PM on Boston Road. If spooky season is your season, this one is for you.
Otherwise, the trails around Hinckley Lake and up at Whipp's Ledges are gorgeous as the leaves start to turn. Pack a lunch and make an afternoon of it.
Whatever you get into, enjoy the weekend. And if one of these communities has you thinking about a move, I would love to help you find the perfect place to call home.
